Background to section

• Facilities available to members.
  • We have 5 well maintained traditional Squash & Racketball courts at our disposal which can all be viewed from the balcony above. These are available 7 days a week during club opening hours.
• Brief history about the section
  • The Squash section was formed in 1935 and we pride ourselves on developing players from young beginners to national level. We have a committed and friendly set of members who actively encourage participation at all levels. We also have a rich tradition of providing players at all levels for the Midlands Teams which have been very successful through the years.

Booking system

• The courts can be booked online (http://www.cnwsc.org.uk/index.php/squash-booking ) or at the kiosk in the clubhouse.
• Court bookings are for 40 minutes. Two courts are only bookable on the day and three courts are bookable up to 2 weeks in advance.
• All members will have access to the booking system but will need at least £2.00 in their squash account to book a court, as there is a refundable £2 deposit taken. Credit can be added to their account at the kiosk (coins) or using by card payment at the bar.

Access to courts / Lights

• Although the courts do not have any access codes to enter them they do require you and your opponent to press your fob against the fob reader by the squash entrance door to turn the lights on at your booked time slot.

Charges

• At present charging is turned off.
• When it is resumed a £2 refundable booking fee will be applied per 40 minute session.
• If you book against “Squash Guest” you will be charged £5

Coaching sessions

• 1 to 1 coaching can be arranged directly with Mo Sarwar (our Club Pro & Head Coach) who is one of the highest qualified squash coaches in the country and an England Squash Level 4 (Elite) coach.

• We also offer Junior Group Coaching between 10am – 12 midday every Saturday at £4 for the 2 hours. This is offered on a turn up and play basis but for more details please contact Mo Sarwar.

Process for joining a team

• We currently enter 3 squash teams in the Warwickshire Winter League (Divisions 2, 5 & 6) and 1 squash team in the Warwickshire Summer League (Division 3).

• Historically we have also entered a Ladies team in the Warwickshire League and entered teams in the Warwickshire Racketball League. However in recent years we have simply not had enough payers to make this possible so we would encourage everyone who wants to play in a team to reach out to the contacts above.
• There are no structured trials for team selection but you will be asked to play a member of the team / Mo / Kev so they can assess your standard to ensure you are nominated at an appropriate position.
• We also run monthly Internal Ladders in both Squash & Racketball. These are open to all players of any standard. All members are encouraged to join them as the benefits are:- Regular games with players of a similar standard; the opportunity to meet more of your fellow members; as your game improves, you can rise in the ladders and get a better standard of play. Sign-up sheets are opposite court 4 on the notice board or on the squash notice board at the club entrance. Alternatively contact Kevin Burrows on 07957 408783.
